GRASSHOPPER LAWNS INC., a member of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), participated in “Renewal & Remembrance” at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, July 28, 2014.
Hundreds of lawn care and landscape companies from across the nation brought their crews to Arlington National Cemetery to spend the day mulching, pruning, liming, planting, and aerating. The gift of time and services is valued at more than $250,000.
This is the 18th year that Grasshopper Lawns Inc. has participated in Renewal and Remembrance. Michael Kravitsky IV and his group, including son Michael V, daughter Kristy, and wife Suzanne, were designated to spread lime to over 23 acres in Arlington National Cemetery. “My family and I are honored to be a part of this service project every year. It’s something that we look forward to every July. Paying our respects to our military personal who have sacrificed so much for us is always a great feeling. Plus, it gives lawn care professionals from all over the country a chance to hang out, catch up, and work as a team; all competitive aspects -if any- are completely thrown aside,” said Michael Kravitsky IV, Landscape Industry Certified Technician, PLANET member and Team Captain of the Pentagon Team.
The day began at Arlington National Cemetery with a ceremony featuring a joint color guard and speaker presentations to dedicate the day of work and helping to maintain the hallowed grounds.
